Learning from kids

I pronounced something wrong and Tana said, " mama aap ko teach karna padega " i thought that was so cute. We get to learn so many things from kids, their view and perception of things are totally different and sometime it amazes me.

Routine

Life has become regular routine, need something exciting to do ! Looking forward to Diwali and also to get a project soon :) Btw have not studied since a week and need to get back to updating my skill.

Making faces ;)

Happy Dussera to all ! It was amazing to watch our PM (a Sikh), our VP (a Muslim) and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi (a Christian) do the Tilak & Abhishek of Ram and Lakshman on the occasion of Ravan dahan ! This is true secularism, proud to be an Indian.

I was getting Tana ready in the morning for her school and scolding her for being so slow and suddenly saw she was making funny faces at me when i was not looking at her and i caught her when she was doing it and we both started laughing, i warned her later not to do so as it is bad manners.

We have renamed Isha as " Goondi" coz she is very naughty and all the time up to some mischief !

Eid Party !

Whoooa what a weekend, a trip to the park yesterday and today a Eid celebrations party at Tana's friend's place. My God the amount of food that was cooked, all so yummy, lot of non veg too which Tana couldn't eat as it was Navmi today. Isha enjoyed the crowd and didn't mind the strangers.

Visit to the Park !

Took the kids the park as it was bright sunny day, Tana loved it and Isha was wondering what are we doing in her afternoon siesta time. But then she did not mind it and went off to sleep after sometime in her pram.

Tana's question for today:
1. Body ke aandar blood aur bones kyon hota hain ?
2. Toothpaste se teeth kaise clean ho jathe hain ?
3. Paani haath clean kaise kar deta hain ?

Reading to children

Reading to children is very important so that they develop a habit of reading, this was the crux of the meeting which was held for all parents in Tana's school. Parents have to build the habit of reading with them so the child will eventually learn to read. The format of teaching here is so different when compared to India, emphasis is laid on a learning with fun, activities and play rather than mugging up things which we eventually forget and never use later in life. Here they teach about the phonetics which helps the child to build up vocabulary and learn faster then learning spellings. Some of the teaching methods are very good but then some are questionable too !

On Time everything :)

I hope everyday things happen on time like today and as per schedule.

Tana asked me a funny thing today, " ma 'chotti ' bada hota hain yeh 'aayi badi chal ke' ;) she was asking so she could say it to Isha.
Tana is very fascinated by high heels. She was trying out the high heels toy sandals she got as gift for her birthday, i told her be careful and asked her 'kya aap ne kabhi mujhe high heels pehne dekha hain ?, she gave a serious look and said,"kuch ladies pehenti hain high heels ! My gosh what attitude and smartness, i think i was a dumbo when i was her age and this gal is so fast for her age, i guess all kids these days are very smart & fast.

Happy Birthday to Tana....She is 5 today !

Happy Birthday to Tana...the party was a big hit and all enjoyed it a lot. Tanvi was very happy by the surprise and to see and meet all her friends especially Keanu as he has changed his school. The kids had loads of fun at Mc Donald's and enjoyed their meal, toys & the balloons. The mummy's also had fun chatting and watching the kids. As they left Tana reluctantly said good and gave them the thank you gift (she didn't wan to give the gift). Loved all her presents and slept the moment she lay on the bed.

In the morning, she was eager to go to school and got ready soon. In her eagerness she spilled her breakfast on the carpet and started crying and said, " mujhe yeh nahin girana chahiye tha " as she was scared that i will scold her. But i did not and just told her to be careful. She was able to take her jacket from the hook and immediately said, " mama mein ne jacket khud utar kiye kyon ki ab mein 5 years ho gaye hoon ".

Waiting to give the surprise!

Today was Tanvi first day at school from 9-3 and she did not mind the long hours and seemed to have enjoyed it. The long hours gave me time to finish my pending shopping and get the things which were required for the party. Isha was a darling as she sat in her praim and looked at all the people in the mall and eventually fell asleep when she got bored. She is perfect baby to take along with when shopping ....bless her !

Me & hubby did the decoration of the living room with happy birthday banners & balloons, i have got the perfect frock, a stylish matching jacket to go with it, along with Tana's favourite pink shoes. All the preparations are done and now just waiting to give her the surprise :). I have told her that we might have some guest home in the evening tomorrow, her papa's friend and she did not find anything fishy, i guess it is easy to make up stories and believe children.

When you intend to give a surprise and the final day or the moment arrives the waiting gets unbearable it give u butterflies in your stomach, you are on the edge of your seat hoping the surprise is accepted as expected and doesn't turn into a shock. Though it only involves a 5 year old kid here but my excitement is nevertheless the same as it when surprising a 15/50 year old person.Fingers crossed ...

Shhh..............................Its a secret !

The excitement about Tana's birthday and its preparations, the things to do list, the invitations given, dress trial done, hiding the secret of the birthday party is all too exciting to me. I have been making up stories about why we are not doing anything for the birthday, and whispering and talking to her friend's mommies when telling them about the party. She keeps asking me what am i talking about and whom am i speaking to, but i make up some story and she believes.

Festivities begin

Navratri begins today and the Eid moon was sighted today so a happy EId and Navratri Mubarak to al. Sounds a little different but i was trying to create a harmonious world where all are happy. Navratri starts today and we did Godess Durga pooja and read the Durga Chalisa. There will be no non veg cooked or eaten for the next 9 days.

Got a Princess cake for Tanvi and have hidden it, I have told her that there will be no cake cutting as we will celebrate her birthday when we go to India, and she believed me. Isha also laughs with us when we see something on TV and laugh, its so cute that babies learn so fast and try to copy the parents/adults and want to be like them.

Its funny how when we are babies we want to be toddlers, when we are toddlers we want to be kids, when we are kids we want to be teenagers in school, when we are teenagers we want to be adults and go to college, when we are in college we want to got to office, when we are in office we think we were better as babies with no worry of the world. Never happy with what we have and always wanting more, this never ending demand which keeps changing and replacing with every new model/fashion and keeps going on and on.....

Question time again !

To scare Tana I have told her that i get very upset and my BP rises when she throws her toys all over the living room and slowly my temper rises. She had made the whole place messy and i reminded her about my BP and asked her to tidy up, i was also helping her and by mistake something fell from my hand and made a loud noise, she immediately asked,"mama aap ka BP badh raha hain "? and i started laughing ;0)

Tana was at her questioning best today :
1. "Ma rocket ke peeche se aag kyon nikalti hain"?
2. "Aeroplane kaise fly kar sakta hain ?
3. " Babies cry kyon karte hain :( ?"

I have started making plans for Tana's 5th birthday and inviting her friends, it will be a surprise for her, i hope she likes it.

Tana and her Pigtails

Yesterday there was gas leak in Tana's school and all the children were in the playground, when i asked her what happened, she very cutely said, " aaj hamare school mein "mergency" ho gaya tha". When i tried to correct her she wouldn't believe me :)

Now that Tana goes to school i make two pony tails for her, they are also called as pigtails, i made her pigtails and showed her ki mein ne aap ki pigtails bana di, she said," ab mein pig lag rahi hoon" how funny :0)

Tana keeps calling house fly as "fly house" every time she sees one and i keep correcting her.

True Value !!!

It often happens that when you have something, you do not care/value it much. You realise their true value when you loose it, their value increases only after loosing it. Think about it.

Contentment

I have not been able to read since yesterday as was busy with tidying up my home. Feeling the impacts of recession as their are no projects available with my firm and no new roles required in the market, this seems like a bad phase for IT again :(

People always think that the grass is greener in the neighbour's lawn and always think that they are so lucky and happy till you know their real story and think you are the lucky one and happy with your lawn...think about it and relate it to any situation/circumstance it would be true 90% of the time.

First time !

The excitement of doing a thing for the first time, wearing a dress, going some place, trying a dish...anything which has a first associated with it becomes exciting ......first love, first kiss, baby's first smile, first step, first word and so on till it becomes a routine and the excitement fazes with the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 100th time. Now why this topic because today Tanvi took her lunch bag to school for the first time and i was excited, packed it with love & affection. Got up early to pack it and added a hippo shaped biscuit as a treat and surprise to her. Tana was excited as she was going to take her lunch bag with 2 cute catty's on it and it was in her favourite pink colour. She wanted to carry it and show it off to her friends and anyone who cared to see it :-).
Now got the connection between the post headline and the incident.

Imagination...!!!

Talking about children's imaginary skills - Isha's got very curly hair and after a hair wash the curls show really well. Tana said, " mama Isha ke hair sea ke pani ki tarah hain, what she meant was they were like the waves -curly, what a comparison and so apt, it amazed me.

She loves drawing and can keep drawing, cutting papers and making things out of it the whole day. Her nursery teacher in her assessment had said about her drawing skills that Tana draws like an 8 year old kid with a lot of details, i felt so proud that day !

Tana and her funny usage of sentences which i find cute and do not correct : Instead of saying, "mein gayi aur mein ne woh kiya" she always says, " mein jaaye tha aur woh kiya tha ", me & hubby find it very cute so never correct her.

Question time again :)

I was explaining Tana about the human body and the skin/flesh around it, she very innocently asked me, "mummy body mein blood kyon hota hain ?" Now what do i reply to it ...i am speechless!

Btw i discovered today she likes Imran Khan the "Jaane tu na jaane na" hero and she loves the song "Pappu can't dance saala "

Retail therapy again :-)

Followed the schedule !

Yep retail therapy is so good once in a while ! i have started shopping for Tana's 5th Birthday and making plans of how, where & who ? A small gathering of her close friends at home. Also updating Isha's wardrobe as needed new outfits.

Children and their imagination.Tana made a funny comment : She saw a car & said, "mama woh car mouse(computerwala) ke jaise lagti hain " it actually looked that way.

I got up early and did my studying and followed the schedule religiously.

Tanvi actually finished her dinner in 20 minutes..how? Why ? its a mystery & a miracle ! I hope it continues daily, please pray for it. Now that Tana's school hours are getting longer her questions have decreased and she is more busy talking to herself and her imaginary friends.

yes i did not write the blog yesterday it was a punishment i gave myself as i broke the schedule for the first time by getting up late after such a long time :-(

Out of control :(

Had done some retail therapy.....went shopping with Tana & Isha to buy clothes for both of them

I was gettitng upset with Tana and told her i am not going to talk to you mein aap se gussa hoon, later she very innocently asked me, " mummy aap ko gussa hona kisne sikhaya ?" I smiled and asked her aap ne kis se sikha ? She said " mein apne aap sikh gaya " i said similarly mein bhi !

I am very late and not in bed :( my schedule/ritual is not been followed and i am getting out of control !

Gussa control karna !!!

I fast on Mondays and because of which sometimes i get stressed and angry .....yes because my constitution is such that i cannot skip one single meal :-) can't help it have been like this for more than 30+ years. Another thing which makes me angry or upset is if i am running late and not as per my schedule, during that time i can be very rude and generally prefer not talking. But kids don't undestand this and here my darling angels were behaving like devils and driving me crazy......i got very upset and later on realised i shouldn't have be so rude so apologised to Tanvi. She felt very important after i apologised :-)

Had a hectic day ...waiting for hours (4 hrs) at the hospital just for a blood test and finally when our turn came it took less than 5 minutes for the actual test. Felt it was such a waste of everybody's time, if only they had more staff to handle the patients.
Today's funny incident at the hospital - Isha was not smiling at any of the Britishers who tried to coochie coo with her and were being so sweet to her, she just gave them serious looks and finally when she smiled it was at an Asian lady. She gigled at her, played with her and was so excited seeing her, i was confused why did she react in such a way...babies have their own judgements and moods !

Nice get together

Had a lunch at my hubby's colleague's place and it was nice get together with meeting new people, learning new things and new recipes.

Tana had a blast with their kid and the whole place was in a mess, but she charmed everyone and they believed that she was the most obedient and cute gal ...phew talk about looks being deceptive.

Had a relaxed weekend..and now the week's schedule starts again ...all the best !

learning a new skill

I love taking pictures and keep taking photos of my kids...they are my models and what lovely models...touchwood. I am learning new ways of taking pictures all by myself and by looking at other pictures, getting inspired !

Why do people, do the things they do ?

Now why did i give such a strange title to the blog ? I was particularly referring to AB joining Big Boss ....WHY???? i find it shocking coz i love and respect him a lot so i cannot understand why he has taken such a stupid decision - he does not need fame, money which it provides, he does not gossip or back bite others so why is he going to be in Big Boss ????? Only time will tell the answer.

Coming back to my ritual...yep i have followed it today too...i have not gone to bed till now, coz it a weekend and i am allowed to sleep late on weekends...by whom ? by myself of course coz i set the ritual and its regulations.

Tana's funny moment :
She told me, "mummy aap ko yaad hain, jab mein choti thi and dadi badi thi (yes that is what she said) hum log bani mein teri dulhan dekhte teh. " I thought it was funny and cute as she was 2.5 years old when this happened.

I got upset with her and scolded her for not helping me and told her, i will not talk to her. She got upset and started slapping herself slowly...i asked her what are you doing ? She said, " she was punishing herself for making me upset :-( .....so sweet, my darling princess!

Isha darling is becoming naughty and keeps rolling all over the carpet, within minutes she moves from one place to another. She is found all over the carpet in the living room except for the mat specifically laid for her. How do we control her ?

Following the ritual still !

Being honest to oneself is very important otherwise one will not be able to look in the mirror ! I am honest person and seldom lie and when i have to for some silly reason I feel very uncomfortable,and i get caught soon. Some people are addictive liars, some are compulsive and some lie just to get accepted and win accolades, i dislike all of them, any harmless lying which would not harm, hurt anyone is ok once in a while.

I am following the ritual still and feel good about it, but i missed my studying today as it was Tana's first day in school and my schedule got a bit disturbed. She was so excited and happy to go to big school. She looked pretty and cute in her uniform and ponytail, it was raining and very windy, and she could not wait for another day. So we went and she enjoyed her first day and loved her new teacher.
Surprisingly she didn't ask about her nursery teacher or friends ??? She is very adjusting and adapting to new people & situations, i wonder whether this is good or bad ?

Tana's funny moment:

I was revising tables with her ...yes she is reading tables and when she came to 2x8=16, she had a little doubt and said, " mera khayal se 2x8=16 hota hain" when i smiled she continued.

Her raincoat has got a little smaller and i said we will get a new raincoat for u - she said," yeah a mickey mouse raincoat" i said OK, we will get from ASDA (our local supermarket) she immediately said, " nahin we will get it from Disneyland !

Followed the ritual Day 6 !

Yep my 2nd post for the day coz i missed yesterday !

Sometimes trying out new dishes and getting a excellent feedback for them encourages and boost your ego :-) that is what happened to me, made vada's today and got very good feedback so i am happy !

Tana starts her reception i.e. LKG from tomorrow, i am more excited than her. She will be wearing uniform and going to school. She loves the idea of wearing the uniform, let's see how long this love will last. She is excited about meeting all her friends and catching up with them

I missed to post the blog yesterday as i followed the "early to bed and early to rise and i shall be posting 2 posts today!

It feels nice to receive compliments for your kids, you feel it as your achievement somehow :-)
After posting the pictures on facebook & orkut the reviews i have been receiving makes me feel proud for them !
