Walking stick

I took Tana to the doctor today for a regular check-up and on our way i told her that she & Isha are like my two eyes. I asked her, when i grow old like Ajji (my grandmother -in law) will she help me with walking by holding my hand ? Madam promptly replied, " mama aap ki stick hogi na aap ko walk karne ke liye" !! ( Ajji walks with a stick) I laughed at her smartness and then asked what when i don't have the stick and i cannot see ? she said, " then i will help....."thank god for it :)

Where did the day go i don't' know but the end result was i did not do cooking today...we had pizza dinner and Tana was pleased about it a lot.

Last week ...1

Tana & Isha sharing their laptop on the weekend : As me and my hubby were watching a movie Tana & Isha were busy playing with their laptop, i found it very cute and so the picture.

Spooky Disco Night - 22nd Oct : Finally the "Spooky disco" night arrived and Tana had loads of fun with her friends and looked spooky in her dress which i made for her :) Check out the picture.......It was pouring heavily and i got totally wet but we did go to school as Tana did not want to miss her first disco party ! Unfortunately parents were not allowed to stay for long so i could only get glimpse of the disco floor and manage to take few pictures. Was disappointed as i was thinking of staying there and watch the whole event..:( So Isha and me waited at the bus stop, for the disco to end and had quite a eventful evening...sounds funny :)

I have not written on the blog since a week and so here i am writing all the important events of the last week in series :)

Retail Therapy is the best and you should always do it when you want to lift your spirits and so me and the gals did a bit of shopping today and i feel so better. Bought new jacket and shoes for Tana and me :)

Hug

I was feeling very cold as me and Tana walked to school in the morning and i told her, Tana mujhe bahut thand lag rahi hain, mein mera gloves bhool gayi hoon. Suddenly she asked me to stop and gave me a hug, i asked why are u hugging me, she said ab aap ko thand nahin lagegi ! i was surprised and asked her aap ko kaise malum, she said, "kyon ki Hug bahut warm hota hain!" How do kids know all the things..............i always wonder ?

Lesson for today:
Do not trust everything you hear and see.

Diwali is over; New year (Samvat) begins !

I always spend a lot of time doing the cleaning of the house especially during diwali and my hubby thinks i am going overboard...i was telling him that i feel that "jaise mera (hamare) ghar ka inspection karne ke liye lakshmiji aanewali hain" and he laughed, but that's how i feel :0)

Our Diwali was good and the home looked beautiful with the diyas. After pooja went to Mandir for darshan and then to Gurudwara to see the fire display, Tana & Isha enjoyed it, Isha got bored after sometime as she did not understand why there were so many people. My hubby visited the Gurudwara for the first time - yes, quite surprising !

When i told Tana that we will be going to the Mandir, she asked me, " Ma mandir kya hota hain ?" Its not her fault as it was the first time we went to a Mandir after coming to UK and she did not remember her temple visits in India.

A happy new beginning for this year with love, prosperity, good health & good luck!

Happy Diwali (choti )

A very happy choti Diwali to all

Children believe whatever you tell them, Tana believes that if she tells lie her nose will grow longer...by the time she knows the actual truth my nose will be the size of a elephant's trunk ;)

Being chased by dogs !

Oh my God what a scary & hilarious episode happened today on my way back after leaving Tana at school. Me and a friend were walking back when suddenly these two ferocious looking dogs, a big German shepherd and a Boxer started barking and walking behind us. My friend is very scared of dogs and she was screaming and i was like don't shout, stay calm they will do nothing (i was also scared but did not show my fear). We kept looking for their owners but no one was around, we kept walking slowly and crossed on the other side of the road. Thankfully the dogs left us and vanished, we laughed and thanked god that neither of us was bitten !

Happy dhanteres to all - i bought a new wok & a saucepan for my kitchen, as i am into major cooking these days.

Spooky Disco

Spooky Disco is being organised at Tana's school and i am very excited about it, but still in a dilemma to send her coz she may not enjoy it if her friend's don't turn up. I was surprised by the idea of a disco for such young kids but then i guess times are changing.

"Portant"

Tana finally understood what is "portant" (important) as she told me while having dinner, "mama TV dekhna portant nahin hain, khana kha na portant hain " i said yes beta, then i asked her why eating is important and she very sweetly replied, "kyon ki khana khane se healthy hota hain" i was very happy and gave her a big hug & kiss.

My whole schedule has been going crazy with me not going to bed on time and getting up late!!!
I need to get back to my schedule once again and start studying.

Btw today is AB's birthday...God bless him!

Fun day !

Tana had a great time at her friend's birthday party, got her face painted and looked very cute. She was so excited about going there and was up and ready well before time.

Saturday's have become a entertaining with so much to watch on the telly and difficult to decide as to what is to be watched and what is to be missed !

Bless me !

We were going out to buy some stuff and i was about to comb Tana's hair when she said, " aap mujhe kya 'bhangi' ki tarah le jaogi ?" i was shocked and asked her what does bhangi mean and she said jo baal nahin banate hain usko bhangi bolte hain :). It is my fault, some time ago I told her u will look like a bhangi if you don't comb her hair and today she repeated it back to me.

When Tana sneezes and i don't tell her "bless you " she immediately tells me, 'mama aap ne mujhe 'bless you' nahin bola' . If there is no one around when she sneezes, she tells "bless me" and carries on with her work :)

Tana is confused between months & years and cannot understand how can Isha be 8 months old and she is 5 years old. As she knows that 5 is smaller than 8, she always wonder, how much ever i try her to explain the difference between months and difference. To pacify her I told her Tana you are 60 months old and she was so happy to know it. She has been telling everyone now and also wanted to tell her class teacher.

Isha is becoming very naughty and knows how to patao us with her smile when we ask her to stop doing something. She loves going for a ride in her praim and does not sleep now, keep watching the world around her.

Tana's Question for the day:
"Mama bache rote kyon hain ?"

Lesson for today:
Watch what you speak in front of your kids after a certain age as they will repeat it !

What is so funny ?

Children learn things faster and imitate others they see around them, Tana has begun to speak in English at home, i always tell her "Hindi mein bolo" so that she does not forget her mother tongue. Today morning she got up and said to me, " mama can i have a fresh glass of water please" i smiled and looked at her, she said, " what is so funny ? "

Questions she asked:
"Paani itni white and splashy kyon hota hain ?
" Teeth kyon tut(break) jate hain ?

Funny Anecdote:
We moved from Delhi to Hyderabad when i was about 6-7 years old, then my English was very poor. One day someone in school asked me, "what is your mother tongue?" i was surprised at the question and very confidently said, it is "pink" and then that person asked me in simple words what do u speak at home and i replied Hindi. I think about it and laugh out loud. But then why is it called " mother tongue " - Mother in this context probably originated from the definition of mother as source, or origin; as in mother-country or -land. (courtesy google)

Lesson for today:
Everyday life teaches you a new lesson and one needs to keep their eye and ears open to catch it and learn from it.

Get well soon !

If the mother falls sick, she manages to carry on doing her work with a little irritation and cribbing but if her child is sick then she gets all worked up and worried. Tana came home early from school as she threw up and was not feeling well. She had slight temperature and has gone to bed. I pray that she gets well soon.

Tana said to me,"mama paracetamol khane se pet ka dard thik ho jata hain" i asked her how did she know, she said ,"TV mein bataye tha". TV is a good teacher and a baby sitter to kids -(SST) sasta, sundar & tikao ;0) but only sometimes. The TV time should be restricted to 1-2 hours daily for kids as anything in excess is bad.

Btw Happy Karvachauth to those who fasted, hope the moon came soon :)

Lesson for today:
Learn not only from your mistakes but from others mistakes too !
Getting worried about something will take you nowhere, instead find ways to solve the problem. Think with a relaxed and cool mind and you will find the solution. If God gives you a problem then it also has a solution waiting at the end of the turn, I believe everything in life happens for a reason which you come to know later, when you have learned your lesson.

Mera kya hoga !

When one has cold it can be very irritating and makes things worse if you have go out in rain and end up getting drenched, that is what happened to me today :( when i went to pick up Tana from school. Tana got upset because i did not pay attention to her and hurt Isha, when i asked her why she did it, she said,"kyon ki aap mera care nahin karti hain" i was surprised and explained her that Isha is a baby, she does not understand anything and she cannot do anything by herself, and you are 5 years old and have to do certain things by yourself, this pacified her a little.

Tana was having dinner and dropped some food on the carpet i asked her to pick it up and kept showing her, dekho idhar se uthao and udhar se uthao, she tells me," mein koi kaamkarne wali hoon jo aap mujh se uthane ke liye bol rahi hain, i said so what i also do it, she immediately replied aap tuo dinbhar wohi karti rehti hain....." hi bhagwan mera kya hoga !!!!

Lesson for today:
I am not a very brand conscious person but i realised it is good to buy branded things when you use the product daily in your day to day activity, that way it will last longer and you get its worth.

Whatever i want !

I did not post yesterday coz i had nothing to write about and also was very tired after a long walk of 2 hours...phew !

When i asked Tana to stop doing something she said, "I will do whatever i want, you do whatever you want" i was shocked and then asked her where did she learn to talk like this from, she said from her friend. I explained that she cannot talk like this with her parents and she obliged. We have to be careful about things kids learn from their friends and correct them timely.

Lesson for today:
Be careful with the eatables kept in the fridge, check their expiry dates regularly and when in doubt smell it, taste it, before giving it to others especially your kids!

Think over it and apply !

Lesson for today:
When you try something new for the first time the results may vary, it might be good or bad, when you get it right for the first time, it is not necessary that it will be right the second time too, coz u need to be extra careful the second time as one tends to become overconfident :). This was the lesson i learnt today and i thought i should share it with all and i think this can be applied to any situation. Think over it and apply !

Another lesson i want to share is when you do something and others tell you don't do it this way but you still keep repeating the same mistakes again and again, Then one day you realise the mistake you had been doing and think to yourself, Oh that person was right i should have not done it this way...this is called realization, happens to all of us most of the time. Think over it and apply !

Acknowledgement

Lesson for today:
One should acknowledge people around them for the things they do, simple things like the food is tasty; the gift is thoughtful; your help is appreciated; saying thank you at the right time means a lot. People in general forget to acknowledge their dear ones (parents, siblings, spouse & close friend) as they take them for granted but they would be happy to hear the thank you and the acknowledgement once in a while. Its better late than never. Thank the lord for your family, friends and the things he/she brings to you.

Tana's funny moments :
Tana saw Salman Khan on the telly, but was unable to remember his name and asked me, mama uss boy ka naam kya hain ? i told her Salman Khan, then she said mein uska naam "gotof" ho gayi thi. What she meant was by "gotof" was "forgot" :0)

I changed the channel and put sports channelwhile watching TV and , Tana immediately said, "mama mujhe boys ka channel nahin dekhna, boys sports dekthe hain aur girls music dekhti hain".I wonder from where does she learn all these things.

Patience

Tana was having her dinner and found it a bit spicy and asked me for water, after drinking it she asked me, "mama paani peena se mirchi kaise kaam hi jati hain ? I told her water mirchi ko wash down kar deta hain. Then she asked me, " tomato red kyon hota hain ? After sometime I got fed up with her being so slow and spoke loudly (shouted) at her to eat fast, she told me, "mama don't shout at me and talk rudely with me, i am your children" i was taken aback and then pacified her and told to hurry up as she was taking long time to eat her dinner. She has a ready made answer for any question you ask her. You need to be very patient to handle the kids and remain calm with them.
